October 2019 Art Exhibition


Easingwold & District Art Society enjoyed a successful and well supported Autumn Art Exhibition at the Galtres Centre on the weekend of 19th and 20th October and wish to express their gratitude to everyone who came and supported the event, now regarded by many as one of the best Art Exhibitions in the area.

Over the weekend visitors were invited to vote for what they considered to be the ‘Best Picture’ in the exhibition and we are delighted to announce the felt picture ‘Wild Running’ by Pam Chilton, received the largest number of votes.


There was a sealed bid auction for the chance to own the water colour painting ‘Serengetti’ by David Bellamy raised £500, which will be donated to ‘Yorkshire Air Ambulance’ On hand throughout the weekend Artists in Residence – Shirley Davis Dew and Cath Inglis, demonstrated their techniques and shared their artistic knowledge and skills. In addition there were workshops, which were much enjoyed, on Life Drawing with Anita Daniel and on Line & Wash with John Harrison.
 
EDAS welcomed ‘The Leaping Hare Gallery & Framers’ of Easingwold who were on hand throughout the weekend offering advice on picture framing and who also brought along a selection of items and gifts for sale.
Sarah Pearson, Director of Art at Cundall Manor School, adjudicated the schools exhibition, and selected five students for particular recognition.
