October 2022 Art Exhibition

October 2022 Art Exhibition

What a turn out we have had this year! The exhibition attracted over 600 people to the Galtres Centre. Now in its 18th year where over 50 artists, 4 art groups, Easingwold Primary School and Outwood Academy joined together to create a marvelous spectacle. The high standard of work and exciting range of different styles and mediums on display offered a rich visual pallet for both visitors and exhibitors to enjoy.

EDAS is committed to encouraging art in the community and this year was no different. An exciting acrylic workshop lead by Tracey Krupianka was well attended while Artists in Residence, John Harrison and Jenny Dalleywater, took the time to chat with visitors as they created their paintings, explaining their individual skills and techniques. EDAS welcomed this year's retailers The Artist's Palette of Thirsk and The Leaping Hare Gallery and Framers of Easingwold.

The undoubted success of the weekend is the result of everyone working tirelessly in the background. Not forgetting the individuals who provided the much needed light bites in the pop-up cafe, ensuring that the many visitors who returned for second viewings were able to indulge in one more cake! Proceeds for the prize draw of professional artist, Geoff Kersey’s lovely landscape painting will be donated to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, this year’s chosen charity. 2022's Best in Show

During the weekend visitors were invited to vote for the best picture and the result by large majority was Pam Chilton's incredible felt painting of a beautiful grey horse called "Skye"

Owl Babies by the Reception children at Easingwold Community Primary School

As part of their transition into school the reception children discussed their homes and families, the book Owl Babies by Martin Waddell was used as a hook for their discussions, the children became immersed in the story and learned to recite the poem 'Wise Old Owl'. They looked at photographs of different types of owls and concentrated as they drew their own owl babies in black pen. These 15 baby owls complete the collection of paintings by our young artists.

Outwood Academy

Work by Easingwold Outwood Academy’s 6th Form students showed just how much talent we have in our young people. Their thoughts and interpretations shouted to the viewer of future Yorkshire artists. These exhibits were adjudicated by local artist, John Humphreys who gave a wonderful critique of the work at the preview evening.
